06:23 pm - Busy Time
With the start of volleyball season, my schedule has filled up quickly.  Most weeks I have 2-4 volleyball matches, plus working a regular 40 hour job.  A friend asked about working so much, but I don't consider volleyball a job.  It's fun for me and I get paid about $30+ an hour : ).    Hopefully it will be fun money to take a vacation with.
My regular job has changed a little.  The children's program encountered a snafu.  We were expecting more kids, so more staff were hired, but the kids aren't here yet.  Oops.  They asked for volunteers to work with the adults who need support.   I volunteered so I could ensure that I could get a full paycheck.  It's very different working with these adults.  Most of them have Cerebral Palsy and can't do anything for themselves.  That's right, I have to do everything for them.  It can be intimidating but they are great and fun to talk to.  One in particular is a 30 something gentleman who uses a computer and taps morse code with his feet to type words to talk.  He has a great sense of humor, but it's kind of frustrating hearing him laugh at a joke that I'm not in on.  Although I'm beginning to enjoy the relationships that are developing, I can't wait to get back to the kids.

Well, work is going well.  I'm getting used to the kids, but I'm really looking forward to Volleyball season starting.  I'm looking forward to refereeing, but not looking forward to my schedule change.  In order to be free to ref, the only shift available is an awake night shift.  So, for the months of September thru December, I will be working graveyard.  We'll see how my body takes it, emotionally and physically.
